As part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team, I collaborated in the design and development of an IoT-enabled Patrol Robot aimed at enhancing security in small and medium-sized businesses. Focusing on both electrical and software integration, I contributed to the development of the system’s navigation and detection algorithms. The project aimed to provide a cost-effective, autonomous security solution that complements existing CCTV systems by patrolling areas at night and alerting the necessary personnel in case of an intruder detection.

My primary contributions involved integrating Raspberry Pi and Arduino-based systems to efficiently handle object detection and navigation tasks. I was responsible for the setup of the IoT system, which used ThingSpeak and MQTT for real-time alerts via various platforms, including email, Twitter, and desktop notifications. Additionally, I played a key role in fine-tuning the Patrol Robot’s wall-following algorithm and random exploration-based navigation system, ensuring optimized ground coverage and responsive operation with minimal hardware.

This project showcased my expertise in IoT system design, robotics integration, and real-time security solutions. By combining hardware and software components, I helped create a functional and innovative patrol robot capable of providing an additional layer of security at a fraction of the cost of traditional systems.
